| On the western side of Kauai is the ten mile long Waimea Canyon, also called "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." As you drive to the end of this canyon, on milepost 18 is Kalalau Point. You stand on the top of 4000 ft tall cliffs that suddenly drop down to the sea to give you this view. This is a famous view that you will see on several Kauai travel and guide books so I wont claim credit for originality but hopefully you like the picture. Its pretty hard to take a bad picture of Kalalau in my opinion :-) The wind is really strong over here, infact I lost my balance a couple of times while composing this. This is the last point and an apt grand finale on the Waimea Canyon drive. If you take the Na Pali coast cruise you see this valley and the cliffs from the sea, another superb view. There are trails that take you all the way down to the valley, which we would have done given more time (right, shortage of time is why we didnt hike down 4000 ft alongside the cliffs with 50mph winds).
