Our guide at Tubu Tree camp, Chief is an amazingly fun person and knows the Delta extremely well. Almost an 'at will' tracker of leopards (the most elusive of the big cats), he explains to us this morning the role of specific plants and animals in the Okavango ecosystem. Chief is also an expert on the Vumbura lions and his claim to fame is being one of the main guides during the production of Dereck and Beverly Joubert's Relentless Enemies. This feature film is an all time National Geographic classic and on watching it one realizes the enormous contributions of individuals like Chief, without which the film makers cannot accomplish anything in the Delta.
